Pronunciation
Also referred to as Ludwigovna and, at one point, Marmeladov refers to her, possibly mistakenly, as Amalia Fyodorovna.

Appears as the crowd disperses from the Marmeladov’s apartment after Marmeladov is brought home injured. There’s an argument between her and Katerina Ivanovna about her patronymic: Ludwigovna or Ivanovna. The argument goes on until Katerina Ivanovna has a fit of coughing.
Part Five
Chapter 2
Marmeladov’s funeral feast. Amalia gets the feast ready while Katerina Ivanovna is at the cemetery. She greets the guests as they arrive, something which Katerina Ivanovna doesn’t appreciate; she feels that Amalia is going too far. The two women try to one-up each other during the feast until it breaks out into an open argument and Amalia gives Katerina her marching orders from the apartment.
Chapter 3
She reacts to Luzhin’s accusation of theft against Sonya by giving Katerina Ivanovna her marching orders from the apartment AGAIN.
